Sergey Lugovoy is an assistant professor in philosophy at the Institute of Humanities of Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (IKBFU).
In 2007, he defended his Ph.D. thesis, “Interpreting the Bible in Kant’s Practical Philosophy,” in which he analyzed Kant’s use of biblical quotes in texts on the problems of the philosophy of morality, religion, and history, under the mentorship of Professor Leonard Kalinnikov. Then he taught at the IKBFU philosophy, the history of foreign philosophy, ethics and philosophy of religion, continuing to explore the Kantian philosophical heritage.
From 2010 to 2012, Lugovoy participated in the project “The Concept of the Growth of Rationality of Thinking and Activity in Modern Russian Society Based on the Achievements of Western European and Russian Science” commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
In 2019 Lugovoy translated I. Kants Latin dissertation On Fire (De Igne) into Russian, which, together with the introductory article “Kant’s Dissertation for Master’s Degree On Fire and the Transformation of his Ideas of Ethereal Matter,” was published in Kantian Journal.
Lugovoy taught philosophy at the Kaliningrad State Technical University (KSTU) and at the Kaliningrad branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (PRUE).
In the Kantian Rationality Lab, Lugovoy is developing a concept for resolving interreligious conflicts based on the Kant’s rational interpretation of religion.
