Alexey N. Krouglov is Professor of faculty of philosophy at Russian State University for Humanities.
He graduated from the Philosophy Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University and the History Faculty of Tver State University. He also studied at the universities of Eistätt, Kiel and Karlsruhe.
In different years he pursued research projects in the universities of Kiel and Trier with support from DAAD and A. von Humboldt Foundation. He was a visiting professor at the universities of Luxembourg, Trier and Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.
The topics of his publications are Kant’s philosophy, German and Russian Enlightenment, Kant’s reception in Russia and philosophical problems of Russian fiction. He is a translator and editor of Russian-language editions of classical texts by German philosophers (I. Kant, J.N. Tetens, J.J. Spalding, J.H. Lambert, M. Mendelssohn and so on) and German-language edition of L. N. Tolstoy and I. N. Tetens.
He is author of Kant and Kantian Philosophy in Russian Fiction (2012), Kant’s Philosophy in Russia at The End of the 18th – First Half of the 19th Centuries (2009), Tetens, Kant and Discussion on Metaphysics in Germany of the Second Half of the 18th Century (2008), Transcendentalism in Philosophy (2000).
Research topic in the Kantian Rationality Lab:
- Kant’s philosophy of law in relation to the constitutional law of Russia;
- Political discussions about Kant’s philosophy in the first half of the twentieth century.
